My first day at the Virgin Islands Agriculture and Food Fair (Agrifest) to attend the opening ceremony as the official poster artist was a beautiful reminder of why I create art rooted in our culture and landscape. The fairgrounds were alive with music, color, and community pride, reflecting the very spirit that inspires my work.

From the beginning, it was an honor to sit on a podium alongside The Honorable Governor Albert Bryan Jr., The Honorable Lieutenant Governor Tregenza A. Roach Sr., The Honorable Senate President Milton E. Potter, Dr. Safiya George, President of the University of the Virgin Islands, The Honorable Commissioner of Tourism Jennifer Matarangas-King, The Honorable Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Louis E. Petersen, Jr., and many other senators, community leaders, and the radiant Virgin Islands Royals. Their presence emphasized how important Agrifest is to the life and culture of our islands.

One of the most incredible moments was seeing my artwork as a mural-sized backdrop for photos. Watching people stop, smile, and pose in front of it seemed unreal, like seeing a piece of my heart standing tall in the middle of the fairgrounds. It was a true honor to have my work serve as a visual centerpiece in that space.

Sitting on the podium for the opening ceremony alongside these distinguished leaders was an experience I will never forget. Hearing my name called and receiving my framed poster as recognition felt like a powerful affirmation of years of hard work, dedication, and love for my craft.

Another milestone that made this season even more special is being selected as the cover artist for the February 2026 issue of St. Croix This Week magazine. February is also Black History Month, and having my work highlighted during such a significant time in Virgin Islands culture is truly monumental. Being featured in a publication that celebrates our island is equally humbling and inspiring.

I extend my deepest gratitude to the Agrifest Committee and to St. Croix This Week magazine for these meaningful recognitions and for creating platforms where local art, culture, and agriculture can stand side by side. I am humbled, thankful, and more motivated than ever to continue creating work that celebrates who we are as Virgin Islanders and how we nurture our land, our people, and our stories..
